Work with me

I bring a trauma-informed approach to everything I do. To me, that means designing bespoke and ethical research plans, treating participants with great care, and sharing powerful insights without sensationalising people’s trauma. Collaborating closely with organisations is also essential, for our research outputs to have clear and intentional impact.

Here are a few of my core offerings:

Training on vicarious trauma

Bring me in to equip your team with the skills to apply a trauma-informed approach to their own work. We’ll learn peer-to-peer style about how to work with sensitive content and traumatised groups in a safe and contained way. This work will help teams to identify the signs when they’re not coping well, and create healthy boundaries around their work together.

I’ve done this work with front line organisations (e.g. Poppy’s Funerals), tech companies whose staff encounter traumatic content (e.g. Bumble) as well as design agencies that work on highly sensitive briefs (e.g. William Joseph working with NSPCC).

Monitoring and evaluation research

Bring me in as an independent expert to monitor or evaluate the impact of a service that you run. I’d be a particularly good fit if your service supports people with marginalised identities and/or those who have experienced trauma. I evaluate with a service design lens - supporting you to practically improve services with learnings that support growth and evolution.

I’ve mainly done this work with charities, from Chayn (where I was fractional Head of Impact), to Women in Prison (supporting women affected by the Criminal Justice System) and Project Lighthouse (supporting mothers who had endured child removal through family court).

User research + design strategy

Bring me in when you need a confident pair of hands to run your sensitive research project end-to-end. I’ll design a trauma-informed approach to all stages and bring your team along for the journey, sharing best practice as we go. This is my bread and butter work, and where I have the most expertise.

I’ve done this work with start ups such as Farewill (innovating in death care), scale ups such as Peanut (supporting women navigating taboo issues such as fertility and menopause) and large orgs such as Wellcome, WaterAid and Ministry of Justice.
